HC Deb 14 December 1993 vol 234 cc560-1W
Mr. Hunter

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what funding is available in 1993–94 for(a) the export marketing programme and (b) the graduate management development programme; and what funds he proposes to make available in 1994–95.

Mr. Atkins

Responsibility for the subject in question has been delegated to the Training and Employment Agency under its chief executive, Mr. J. S. Crozier. I have asked him to arrange for a reply to be given.

Letter from J. S. Crozier to Mr. Andrew Hunter, dated 10 December 1993: You asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland about the funding for the Export Marketing and Graduate Management Development Programmes in the years 1993–94 and 1994–95. As the Training and Employment Agency has responsibility for these programmes, I am writing to you directly in response. In the year 1993–94, £668,000 has been allocated to the Export Marketing Programme and £1,951,000 to the Graduate Management Programme. With regard to 1994–95, I am unable at present to provide figures for the proposed funding as the Public Expenditure Survey allocations have not been completed. However, I envisage that sufficient funding will be made available from within the overall allocation to enable the programmes to be operated at least at the current level of activity and in the light of the outcome of the imminent competitive tendering process to which both programmes are subject. I regret I cannot be more specific at this stage.
