To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list the representations received from Ayrshire following the publication of his proposal to split the county606W into two parts in his reorganisation of local government under those who (a) support his proposal, (b) support an all Ayrshire authority and (c) support another option.

[holding answer 6 December 1993]: Since publication of the White Paper "Shaping the Future—The 607W New Councils", a total of 43 representations about the restructuring proposals for Ayrshire have been received. One has supported the White Paper proposal; 18 a single Ayrshire authority; 12 other options; and 12 have expressed concern over the proposal without stating a preference.
