HC Deb 14 December 1993 vol 234 c554W
Mrs. Ann Winterton

To ask the Attorney-General what consideration is being given to bringing prosecutions in those cases referred to in the statement of 11 November by Mr. Richard Turner of the western European department of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in a letter a copy of which has been drawn to his attention, that non-voluntary active termination of life is a practice which occurs in the United Kingdom, although it is illegal; and if he will make a statement.

The Attorney-General

I understand that the letter by the official in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office referred to by my hon. Friend was misleading and that the FCO does not have any evidence suggesting the commission of offences of unlawful killing.
