To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many fishing licences have been issued in England and Wales to(a) under 10 m vessels and (b) over 10 m vessels up to the most recently available date.

As at 1 December some 3,900 10 m and under licences had been approved, or were likely to be approved, for issue to fishing vessel owners in England and Wales. There were some 1,690 licensed vessels over 10 m in overall length in the English and Welsh fleet.
