To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many nurses are employed in NHS hospitals within the Liverpool area health authority.

There were 5,030 whole-time equivalent nursing and midwifery staff, excluding agency staff, employed by the national health service within the Liverpool district health authority area at 30 September 1992, the latest figures available.
