HL Deb 07 December 1993 vol 550 c66WA
Lord Hylton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What information they have about responsibility for deaths and woundings in Kosovo, since the withdrawal of CSCE observers in July 1993; whether they have studied the recent report of the International Helsinki Federation for Human Rights; and what action is proposed for improving the situation in Kosovo.

Lord Mackay of Ardbrecknish

We remain concerned about reports of continuing repression by the Serbian authorities of ethnic Albanians in Kosovo. We and our partners are maintaining pressure on Belgrade to permit the return of the long duration missions of the Conference on Security arid Co-operation in Europe (CSCE) to Kosovo and other areas. My right honourable Friend, Mr. Hogg, is to meet Dr. Ibrahim Rugova, leader of the Democratic alliance of Kosovo, today to discuss the situation.
