§ Lord James Douglas-Hamilton[holding answer 2 December 1993]: There are no plans for the construction of any new prison establishment in Scotland. However, planning is being taken forward for the provision of a new 50 prisoner place houseblock at HM prison, Greenock. 99W Subject to planning consent and other necessary approvals, construction work is provisionally scheduled to start in the latter part of 1994-95.
The estates strategy for the service is contained at chapter 9 of, and annex B to, the Scottish Prison Service corporate plan, a copy of which was deposited in the Library in August this year.
