The Home Secretary has asked me to reply to your recent Question about prisoners detained in police cells (a) nationally and (b) in the North West; and what locations; and for how long they have been there.On Tuesday 30 November, the latest date for which complete information is available, a national total of ten prisoners were detained in police cells, all in Manchester. They arrived there on that day and were received into prison custody on the following day.
