§ Mr. Livingstone
To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security (1) how many people currently receive mobility allowance;
(2) how many people receive the mobility component of the living allowance at (a) the higher rate and (b) the lower rate; and if he will break the figures down by (i) age, (ii) sex, (iii) whether the recipient holds a driving licence and (iv) whether payment is made to an appointee.
§ Mr. Scott
Mobility allowance was replaced from April 1992 by the mobility component of disability living allowance.
Information is not available about recipients of the mobility component who hold a driving licence. Information about payments to appointees could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.
Data about the two rates of mobility component broken down by age and sex are shown in the table.
