A further eight councils on the 1993–94 disposals programme have won tenant support for transfer and are expected to submit applications for permission to transfer by March next year.
I am also pleased that the public expenditure provision for housing announced yesterday will enable the programme to be expanded in future. Fourteen authorities have applied for inclusion in next year's programme and I hope to announce the successful applicants in the next couple of weeks.
