HC Deb 23 April 1993 vol 223 c226W
Mr. Riddick

To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage what is the policy of Her Majesty's Government towards allowing the sale of national lottery tickets in pubs and other licensed premises; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Key

At Second Reading and in Committee we indicated that we were minded not to allow the sale of national lottery tickets in pubs. This was primarily to protect the image of the National lottery, and to avoid confusion with other forms of soft gambling which might take place in pubs. I have since received a number of representations on this matter, and I met the Brewers' Society on 23 March.
