HC Deb 22 April 1993 vol 223 c202W
29. Dr. Godman

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if the exercise designed to identify all those women whose invalidity benefit was reduced at the age of 60 years has been completed; what is the estimated number of such women; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Hanley

The exercise to identify women whose invalidity benefit was reduced at age 60 has been completed. The estimated number of such women is 2,700. A case involving the payment of invalidity benefit to women aged 60 to 64 is at present with the Court of Appeal in England, but no date has been set for the hearing. The Department of Health and Social Services will give full consideration to the judgment of the Court of Appeal when it is delivered.
