To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security if he will list the most recently available figure for the income support live load of each of his Department's offices in Northamptonshire; and what are the costs involved.

The administration of income support is a matter for Mr. Michael Bichard the chief executive of the Benefits Agency. He will write to my hon. Friend with such information as is available and a copy will be placed in the Library.

Letter from Michael Bichard to Mr. William Powell, dated 20 April 1993:

As Chief Executive of the Benefits Agency it is my responsibility to answer questions about relevant operational matters. I am therefore replying to your recent Parliamentary Question to the Secretary of State for Social Security if he will list the most recently available figure for the Income Support live load of each of his Department's offices in Northamptonshire; and what are the costs involved.The Benefits Agency offices covering Northamptonshire are Corby, Northampton and Wellingborough. I have given below the latest figures for the Income Support live load by office. The information has been provided by the Income Support Management Information Statistics. Information regarding the costs of benefit involved are not available. This is because information if only held on a National basis and it is not possible to estimate costs for local areas.
