To ask the Secretary of State for Health, pursuant to her answer of 25 February,Official Report, column 679, what steps are taken to ensure that the Medical Advisory Committee is in possession of all relevant information when advising on a penalty to be imposed on a doctor.

My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State passes to the Medical Advisory Committee the evidence that was available to the committee which heard the complaint, the recommendations of that committee and the reasoned decision of the family health services authority, any further information presented on appeal and where appropriate the report of the findings of the persons appointed to hold an oral hearing.
