HC Deb 21 April 1993 vol 223 cc144-6W
Mr. Meale

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many formal meetings were held between Forestry Commission officials and hunt officials of the Quantock Staghounds in 1990, 1991 and 1992; and how many warden checks were carried out on Forestry Commission land to ensure the Quantock Staghounds adhere to the terms and conditions of their permit in 1990, 1991 and 1992.

Mr. Curry

Forestry Commission officials and hunt officials of the Quantock Staghounds met formally once in 1990, twice in 1991 and once in 1992. In addition, a number of informal meetings were held each year, and Commission and hunt officials usually meet every two months as members of the Quantock deer management and conservation group.

Forestry Commission staff carry out random checks on hunt days to ensure that the conditions of the permits are being followed, but these routine inspections are not recorded.
