§ Mr. AltonTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a statement about the arrest and detention without charge of Mr. Don Treshman.
§ Mr. Charles Wardle[holding answer 20 April 1993]: Mr. Treshman was served on 29 March with a notice of intention to deport him on the ground that his continued presence in the United Kingdom was not conducive to the public good. He was also detained by virtue of a detention order made under paragraph 2(2) of schedule 3 to the Immigration Act 1971. Mr. Treshman has appealed to the independent immigration appeal tribunal against the deportation decision, and applied to the tribunal for bail pending the hearing of the appeal. Bail was granted on 1 April subject to conditions.
