To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will set out by political party how many deposits were lost in the 1992 general election.

[holding answer 19 April 1993]: The table gives details of lost deposits by party. A deposit is forfeited if a candidate fails to secure 5 per cent. of the total valid votes polled in the parliamentary constituency.
