To ask the President of the Board of Trade whether his inspectors have received all papers removed from Astra plc by the MoD police.

The inspectors have confirmed to me that they have had access to papers of the company held by the Ministry of Defence police.

To ask the President of the Board of Trade when the DTI inspectors began work on Astra plc; and what reasons account for the time taken by the inspectors to prepare their report.

The inspectors commenced work on appointment on 16 August 1990 and their report was signed on 7 April 1993. In particular, the inspectors considered substantial representations received during the course of fairness procedures.
