To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what measures his Department will take to facilitate travel by the disabled in London.

Mr. Norris

My Department's disability unit works closely with the unit for disabled passengers at London Transport in promoting a wide range of accessible mainstream and specialist transport services.

Dial-a-ride services in London are funded by my Department and administered on our behalf by London Transport. The level of funding for this year is £12 million —which represents a real increase of 60 per cent. since 1985–86, the last year of GLC funding.
