To ask the Secretary of State for Employment if she will make a statement on the implementation of objective 4 of the European Community social fund.

Assistance from the European social fund under objective 4 is aimed at improving the employment prospects of young people by supporting their vocational training. In 1992, £132 million was approved under objective 4 to support training for some 155,000 young people in the United Kingdom.

The regulations governing the EC structural funds are currently being reviewed.
