§ Mr. Peter RobinsonTo ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what information he has on the number of(a) mainland British and (b) United States firms which have set up manufacturing plants in Northern Ireland since 1963; and, in each case, what information he has on the sum total of grants paid out and the number which are still in the Province, listing the names and the products produced by each.
§ Mr. AtkinsInformation is available only from September 1982 when the Industrial Development Board was established. Sixteen mainland British and eight USA firms have set up manufacturing plants in Northern Ireland since that date with selective financial assistance from the Industrial Development Board. Grants totalling £5.3 million have been paid to the mainland British firms and £15.8 million to the USA firms. Nine mainland British and four USA firms still operate in Northern Ireland. Details of these are as follows:
