HC Deb 14 April 1993 vol 222 cc638-9W
Mr. Peter Robinson

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what progress has been made in persuading the Gaelic Athletic Association to end its ban on membership of those who have served in the Royal Navy, the Army or the police.

Mr. Hanley

As a voluntary sports organisation which receives grant aid, Government officials meet representatives of the GAA from time to time. The Government's regret for GAA membership restrictions is already in the public record but changes on GAA membership rules are a matter for that organisation.
