Mr. Cox

To ask the President of the Board of Trade what action he intends to take to support and encourage the small business sector in the Greater London area; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Heseltine

My Department provides substantial help to small businesses in London through the overseas trade services, consultancy initiative and technology support available through the south-east regional office. The small firms loan guarantee scheme is available throughout London. In 1993–94 my Department will be providing financial support through the training and enterprise councils in London for a wide range of information, advice and other support to small firms.

To ask the President of the Board of Trade what was the value of inward investment for industrial development in the Greater London area in 1992; and if he will make a statement.
