HC Deb 26 October 1992 vol 212 c526W
Mr. Wallace

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what progress has been made with the review of the prisons estate; and if he will make a statement.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

Over the past three years a thorough appraisal of the prisons estate in Scotland has been undertaken, in order to establish and prioritise the range of improvements and upgrading work required to provide modern accommodation and facilities for prisoners and staff alike. A programme for implementation will be determined in the light of the outcome of the 1992 public expenditure survey.
