§ Mr. ForthA number of surveys of parents' knowledge of the education system have been commissioned by the Government in recent years. These have showed that some parents were unaware of even their most basic rights in relation to their children's education and that most would welcome more information about schools. The parents charter for parents in England was designed to meet these needs. The charters produced for parents in Wales and Scotland are the responsibilities of my right hon. Friends the Secretaries of State for Wales and for Scotland.
448Wschools have to date (i) applied for and (ii) received approval for grant-maintained status from his Department in each of the London boroughs.
§ Mr. ForthThere have been 13 applications for grant-maintained status from primary schools in the London boroughs, of which 10 have been approved and two are under consideration. There have been 57 applications from secondary schools in the London boroughs, of which 44 have been approved and 13 are under consideration. Details are given in the table.
