HC Deb 19 October 1992 vol 212 c207W
Mr. Pike

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what steps he proposes to take regarding transpennine road links following publication of the recent study undertaken on this subject; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Kenneth Carlisle

There are a number of schemes in the national roads programme to improve transpennine road links. These include widening M62 between junctions 18 and 24; provision of a new Ml/M62 link; improvements to A628/A616 from M67 to Stocksbridge and improvements to A66.

I will be better placed to make a statement regarding transpennine roads strategy once the public consultation period has finished on 5 March and all responses have been considered. At this stage the Government are not committed to any of the strategies in the consultants' report.
