To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment when he expects to set up a public inquiry into the Tameside unitary development plan.

Mr. Baldry

Tameside metropolitan borough council will, in due course, put their unitary development plan on deposit and invite formal representations. If objections are made at this time the council will arrange an inquiry and the Secretary of State will be asked to appoint an inspector.
