HC Deb 19 October 1992 vol 212 c184W
Mr. Sproat

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what financial provisions, and how much, he has made within his Department in order to look at the potential for deregulation of each of the regulatory measures for which he has responsibility.

Mr. Dorrell

The Chancellor's departments have a number of staff dedicated to looking at the potential for deregulation throughout the economy. These total 11 at an annual salary cost of about £340,000. In addition, other staff also spend some of their time working on deregulation issues as part of their duties. It is therefore not possible to quantify exactly the total effort devoted to this subject.
