§ Mr. AitkenDuring the financial year 1991–92, in excess of 400 contracts were placed. Following competition, for the refit and repair of RN, Royal Fleet Auxiliary, Royal Maritime Auxiliary Service and other small vessels. Such contracts ranged from providing assistance to the RN in rectifying defects on operational vessels to the refitting of RFAs. The major contracts awarded are listed below.
The total value of these contracts is in the order of £85 million (1992–93 price levels). This excludes those contracts awarded overseas and represents 14.7 per cent. of the total expenditure on all RN, RFA and RMAS refit and repair work. In volume terms, this represents 30.6 per cent. of the total naval production load.

§ Mr. AitkenThe total expenditure in the financial year 1991–92 on the refit, repair and maintenance of all RN, Royal Fleet Auxiliary, Royal Maritime Auxiliary Service and other small vessels is approximately £580 million at 1992–93 price levels. This covers work carried out in FMRO Portsmouth, the Royal dockyards and private yards and includes support work carried out in aid of such tasks.
