To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what was (i) the total cost, adjusted to 1992 prices of the wildlife incident investigation scheme for Northern Ireland and (ii) the proportion of the total cost contributed by the agrochemical industry levy, in each of the last five years.

An overall costing for the Departments involved in the operation of the scheme is not available.

Diagnostic services carried out by the Department of Agriculture for Northern Ireland in 1991–92 were costed at £14,824. This amount was recouped by means of the agrochemical levy. Prior to 1991–92 diagnostic testing was financed by DANI.
