To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many prisoners are now at large after escaping either from custody whilst travelling under escort or from places of detention.

Of those prisoners who have escaped from prison custody since 20 June 1988, either from prison establishments or whilst travelling under escort, 117 remain unlawfully at large, as at 24 November 1992.
