HC Deb 23 November 1992 vol 214 cc524-5W
17. Mr. Peter Bottomley

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make a statement on progress in the reduction of deaths and serious injuries from road crashes.

Mr. Kenneth Carlisle

The provisional figures for the 12 months ending in June 1992 are: 4,585 deaths, 50,695 serious injuries and 312,278 slight injuries. These figures show that, for deaths and serious injuries, the Government have already almost achieved their target of reducing road casualties by one-third by the year 2000.
