§ Mr. BrookeThe Government's grant schemes for historic buildings are administered by English Heritage. It is able to grant aid works to outstanding historic buildings (which for all practical purposes are those listed as grade I or grade II*) and to other buildings in conservation areas. As Bournemouth central station is listed grade II, and is not a conservation area, it is not eligible for assistance. English Heritage has reviewed the listing of the station but has concluded that upgrading would not be justified.
