Mr. David Nicholson

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what the cost was to public funds of editing, publishing and printing the series of publications "Food Safety" PB0551, "Food Sense" PB0549, "About Food Additives" PB0552, "Understanding Food Labels" PB05523, "Food Protection" PB0554 and "Healthy Eating" PB0550; and what financial contribution was made by the food or retailing industries.

The "Food Sense" series of booklets was launched in August 1991, as part of a three-year campaign, to provide attractive and easily understood information in response to public concern about food issues. Some 12.5 million booklets, in the series referred to, have been printed so far. The costs for production and print have been met from within the Department's paid publicity budget and are as follows:
