HC Deb 18 November 1992 vol 214 c270W
27. Mr. Hunter

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what plans he has to upgrade road and rail links with Stranraer, to link with the increased use of the Larne-Stranraer ferry crossing.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

The Scottish Office has already made significant progress in improving the trunk road network in the south west of Scotland. The A75 has been substantially upgraded in recent years. However, to alleviate some remaining operating difficulties further work is planned to improve safety and overtaking opportunities. In conjunction with the Department of Transport, my right hon. Friend and I will continue to ensure that the transport infrastructure needs of the area are fully identified.
