To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many acres of land in Great Britain are currently used for growing rape seed oil; and what plans he has for the use of rape seed oil to run public transport systems.

Mr. Curry

The area planted to rape seed in Great Britain for harvest in 1992 is estimated at about 1.04 million acres—421,000 hectares. The Government have no plans to use rape seed oil to run public transport systems.
