To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment how many letters of objection to the new thermal oxide reprocessing plant at Sellafield have been received by Her Majesty's inspectorate of pollution.

[holding answer 12 November 1992]: By 11 November Her Majesty's inspectorate of pollution had received in the order of 36,000 representations about the new thermal oxide reprocessing plant at Sellafield from individual members of the public together with several petitions containing a total of approximately 6,500 names.
