§ Mr. Home RobertsonTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the progress of the sale of the site and buildings of East Fortune hospital; and what undertakings are being given to prospective buyers about the relocation of the remaining patients and staff from the hospital.
§ Mr. Stewart[holding answer 4 November 1992]: Several expressions of interest in the hospital land and buildings at East Fortune have been received. No undertakings have been given to prospective purchasers on the relocation of those patients and staff remaining at the hospital; only when appropriate alternative accommodation is available, and the NHS has no further use for these facilities, will a sale be progressed.
