HL Deb 12 November 1992 vol 540 c19WA
Lord Jenkins of Putney

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether the negotiations for a comprehensive test ban treaty, begun in 1958 between the USA, USSR and UK, are now likely to be resumed; and whether any negotiations have taken place during the Bush administration in the USA.

Baroness Chalker of Wallasey

No negotiations for a comprehensive test ban treaty have taken place during President Bush's administration, and there are no plans for such negotiations at present. Any future agreement in this area would almost certainly have to involve France and China.
