To ask the Parliamentary Secretary, Lord Chancellor's Department how many bail applications for terrorist-related crimes were lodged in Northern Ireland in each of the past two years; how many were successful; and what was the total cost to the Exchequer for each year of these applications.

The number of bail applications made in respect of scheduled offences in 1990 and in 1991; and the number of such bail applications which were successful were as follows:

The cost to the Exchequer of these applications is not available and could not be made available except at disproportionate cost.
