Whether they will name the members of the advisory committee on car theft and the qualifications of those members.

My honourable friend, the Minister of State, recently formed a committee which comprises people who are actively involved in car security and car crime prevention to advise him on these areas and to contribute to car crime prevention. The committee met for the first time on 20th October. My honourable friend formally announced the details of this new committee at the conference held this morning to review the progress which has been made in the major Home Office-led crime prevention campaign "Car Crime Prevention Year".

The members of the committee are:

  1. Mr. R. P. W. Andrews—Manager, Communications and Media, General Accident;
  2. Mr. K. Barnes—Head of Engineering, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders;
  3. Mr. R. Dunley—chairman of the British Standards Institute's committee for vehicle alarms and chairman or member of other technical committees on vehicle security standards;
  4. Mr. D. Gent—Director General, the Retail Motor Industry Federation;
