§ Mr. Eggar[holding answer 26 October 1992]: My Department commissioned the report by Touche Ross on the use of CFCs and 1, 1, 1, Tri-chloroethane as solvents. The report by March Consulting Group on the use of CFCs in the refrigeration sector was commissioned by the Department of the Environment. Both reports are primarily intended to inform decisions on the timetable for phasing-out ozone-depleting substances. These decisions will be taken, by agreement between EC member states, in the context of the review of the Montreal protocol later this year.
