Whether they have investigated the claims of substantial abuse of the elderly made in the Channel 4 "Dispatches" programme of 21st October, and if so, what action they are taking.
§ The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Health (Baroness Cumberlege)The Department of Health will consider the implications of the report when a copy of the report has been received. Earlier this year, the Social Services Inspectorate published a report on elder abuse and we are currently preparing guidance for social services authorities. A draft of that guidance has already been circulated for comment.
