§ Lord James Douglas-Hamilton[holding answer 20 May 1992]: The cost of food for prisoners is determined by the weekly ration sheet based on an approved dietary scale. On that basis the estimated average daily food cost per prisoner in Scotland is £1.26 for the current financial year.
