§ Mr. BatesTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he has taken the necessary steps to make public the responses to consultation on the measures to promote competition in the water industry which are now incorporated in the Competition and Service (Utilities) Act 1992.
§ Mr. MacleanCopies of 45 responses to the consultation paper, "Proposed legislation on competition in the water industry", issued jointly by the Department of the Environment and the Welsh Office in October 1991, are available to the public in the Department of the Environment's Library until 30 September 1992. A list of the bodies which submitted these responses has been placed in the Library of the House. In a further four cases, the body submitting a response asked that it be treated as confidential and that has been respected.
