§ Mr. McMasterTo ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland when his Department plans to announce the outcome of the recent review of the disabled facilities grant system; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. AtkinsUnder the Housing (Northern Ireland) Order 1983, grants for disabled facilities are available within the provision of the renovation grants scheme. While there has been no recent review relating specifically to the disabled facilities grant in Northern Ireland, a draft housing order will shortly be laid before Parliament which will, among other things, seek to introduce a revised renovation grants scheme for private sector dwellings. The revised scheme will, in the main, mirror the scheme that has operated in England and Wales since July 1990 under the provisions of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989, and will contain a specific disabled facilities grant.
