HC Deb 21 May 1992 vol 208 c202W
Mr. Raynsford

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the estimated annual revenue to the Exchequer from the taxation of mileage allowance paid to car service volunteers with the national health service.

Mr. Dorrell

Volunteers who drive for the hospital car service are taxed on motor mileage allowances only to the extent that they exceed the actual costs incurred in driving for the national health service. I regret that information is not available about the tax collected as a result of taxing this profit element.
