To ask the President of the Board of Trade what powers he has to make recommendations to the Privy Council on the terms of the royal charters of the accountancy bodies.

My right hon. Friend has no express power to make such recommendations, although it would be normal for him to offer advice when consulted by the Privy Council in relation to applications from chartered accountancy bodies for changes in their royal charter.
