asked Her Majesty's Government:

What are the responsibilities of the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State in the Lord Chancellor's Department, and the matters on which he will answer Parliamentary Questions and make Statements.

The Lord Chancellor

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Lord Chancellor's Department will have day-to-day responsibility for the following areas of work:

  • —Legal aid and the development of legal services;
  • —Relations with the Land Registry and the Public Record Office, and the development of any other candidates for agency status;
  • —Some budget and resource issues;
  • —Energy efficiency; and
  • WA 40
  • —Equal opportunities and women's issues (non-judicial).

In addition, Mr. Taylor will be responsible for handling all of my department's business in the House of Commons.
