§ Sir George YoungPlanning policy guidance note 7 reaffirms the Government's policy that the countryside should be protected for its own sake. It states that the planning system helps to integrate development necessary to sustain the rural economy with protection of the countryside for the sake of its beauty, the diversity of its landscape, the wealth of its natural resources and its ecological, agricultural and recreational value. Planning policy guidance note 7 cancels DOE circular 16/87.
